The Walking Dead: 400 Days
 –

Short but a nice addition

Character empathy is the strength of this game franchise. 400 Days is a little too short to really have the same impact that the first series had but is a nice addition to the series. I picked this up to pass the time between series 1 and 2 of Walking Dead games, and look forward to seeing how the choices in this release affects the latter episodes.

Crusader Kings II: Conclave

This expansion continues to take CKII down the path of Role Playing Lite by giving more power to vassals and allowing you to influence your Kingdom's direction even if you aren't in charge. It improves the interest level in the game during those long periods while waiting for something to happen. It forces you to think before ticking off your vassals. It also makes playing as a Duke in a large kingdom or empire more interesting as you aren't left with just revolting against your liege as your only option.

Creepy

If I have to fault this game is it is very dark and sometimes difficult to see fine detail but the story is creepy enough

Wasteland Angel
 –

It's like Mad Max, but not nearly as good!

To me, Wasteland Angel is an unfinished game. It plays adequately, but there are a lot of little physics glitches. There's a decent amount of content, but only if you want to do score attack and improve your overall score or rank. The graphics are okay, but not great for the time of release, much less now.

The core gameplay is simple but fun; drive around and kill bad guys. Most levels are defense missions: kill waves of enemies and prevent them from capturing citizens from the town. The towns have 100 people, if you destroy a capture vehicle before it leaves the screen you can get the citizens back, but you can also run them over. There are also boss stages, such as a giant napalm truck that you can only damage by luring it into trails of napalm, a secondary weapon pick up. There are also first-person bonus levels such as racing or survival. There's also a story told in snippets of dialog and motion-comic style cut scenes.

The game works reasonably well and has controller and keyboard support, but there were several areas where the physics bugged out, such as getting stuck on environmental objects. The hit detection needs work. The fact that there's a dedicated "flip your car over" button should tell you something. Seeing as the game is a few years old already I doubt you'll see any improvements.

In the end the game gets repetitive quickly, the controls are a bit loose, there isn't much variety in gameplay, and the story is forgettable. If you like score attack or driving around shooting baddies in small arenas, this may still be the game for you!

Homeworld Remastered Collection
 –

As good as I remembered it, well, better, I guess :)

I loved playing Homeworld years ago, and I was hoping it would age well. Well, so far, so good! I'm just a few hours in, but it's holding up rather well!

Craft The World
 –

Good for what it is.

This game is, primarily, a time waster. And I mean that in the best of ways.

The gameplay is very linear: gather this to make this so that you can make things further along on the crafting tree. You don't directly control your Dwarfs at any time; rather, you can assign them tasks and they do them... whenever they deign to. The A.I. will always prioritize whatever you clicked first. This means that if you want to switch tasks, you have to un-click *everything* you selected in between. Otherwise, your little Dwarfs will go about killing critters, collecting items for crafting, and building whatever you instruct them to. That's it. After all of the craft options are unlocked, you simply amass your empire. You can even avoid battle entirely if your randomly generated world has high enough obstructions between you and monster spawn points.

Pros:
Clean graphical style.
The ability to create and customize your own shelter.
Equipment changes are reflected on your Dwarf denizens.

Cons:
Linear game play without much replayability.
Craft tree could use more, exciting options.
Repetitive soundtrack.
The A.I is sometimes very silly.

Still, for the price (around 5USD) it's a good bit of fun. I haven't tried the multiplayer as of writing this.

Celestian Tales: Old North

Fun RPG

It's always refreshing to find a new RPG that isn't made in RPG Maker, so this game immediately hit my radar. The developers really put a good effort into this game and it shows. The only negative comment I can really make about this game is that it is incomplete. It is the first of three chapters in the game, each of which will also have a DLC expansion pack. While the first chapter is quite fun and worth playing through, for most, i would say to wait and see how development goes on the remainder of the game because as is, you are buying an incomplete game that won't be finished until probably sometime in 2017.
