Out There: Omega Edition

+Gorgeous art style
+Everything in the game is well designed, in particular the ships and the alien life forms
+There are several different ships, each coming with pros and cons meaning each ship has a unique play style
+Usually when you jump to a new star system you get a journal entry/mini text adventure which all have great stories but they're let down by the writer's knowledge of English (I'll come back to that later)
+The galaxy is procedurally generated each time you play so you'll never see the same galaxy twice
+Interesting storyline with an interesting yet mysterious protagonist
+Outstanding (even outstanding doesn't do it justice) soundtrack that even rivals that of FTL
+Great gameplay based around resource management, kind of like FTL with more resources and no combat
+The game has no combat, a bold move that work fantastically, fighting to survive against the environment is much more interesting than fighting to survive against hostile life forms
+As you get further into a run you begin unlocking more advanced technologies to help you get further
+Abandoned ships always seem to turn up just as your ship becomes obsolete which is perfect
+When you encounter alien life forms you often learn parts of their language
+You frequently come across mysterious alien materials and artifacts which often provide ways of improving your ship
+It's impossible to see everything this game has to offer in one run so you're definitely going to come back for more

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is the example of an excellent narrative game. It is a real masterpiece, every detail of the game is thought through.

Beyond Eyes

Amazing hidden gem: pace, art direction, gameplay, soundtrack, characters, story - everything constantly flirts with a minimalist Zen perfection. Blindness is an all-pervasive white, from which the world comes into being and into which it fades to nothingness at each step you take, trembling in gentle aquarelles as an unique emotional, heart-wrenching story gently unfold

DARK SOULS™ III - The Ringed City™

Must-buy if you enjoy the base game or the souls series in general. Incredible amount of lore with some of the best boss-fights in the entire series. Don't go in expecting a ton of length, but what it is here is fantastic. Overall an excellent conculsion to the souls games.

Batman: The Enemy Within - The Telltale Series
 –

Good

Batman: The Enemy Within is another great addition to The Telltale Series. This latest chapter has some of the best storytelling to come out of The Telltale games. This title adds a new twist to the Batman legend and makes the story fresh again.

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire

Excelent

I didn't like the first game too much, but this is amazing. Graphics, music, voice acting, artwork, gameplay, its just amazing.
Only thing I didn't like is text based ship combats.

Nancy Drew: The Deadly Device
 –

Not Very Good

**NO SPOILERS**

I have been playing Nancy Drew games my whole life, so naturally, I was excited to play this one. Maybe it's because I think science is boring, or maybe the game just wasn't up to par, but I did not enjoy this game. Nancy is locked in one building, and there's only a handful of places you can go within the building. The characters weren't very interesting, and it was just kind of hard to get through. Slow story, and a lot of repetitive motions.

The Dwarves
 –

Beautiful

The game is beautiful, the music is nice and there is the song by Blind Guardian playing during the credits at the end.

But it's short, has very little replayability and it's so focused on the main plot that it can feel rather linear.

I haven't read the book but it's pretty standard fantasy fare if you're familiar with the classics and are a fan of RPGs. The story does have its moments and things pick up near the end but it may sound a bit too generic depending on your background.

RPG elements are limited to a few skill choices and decisions that play out like a choose your own adventure gamebook. You don't get to create your own character but the main character in this game is likeable and the voice acting is pretty good.

The main issue is the combat which plays pretty much like an RTS game. It's a bit messy and your guys are always facing overwhelming odds. Don't get me wrong, it does contribute to the epic dimension of these fights but it also gets old pretty quickly especially considering that you have to micromanage your party (of up to four characters) because if they're left to their own devices they never use their special abilities. If you want a more hands off approach then you will need to lower the difficulty and even then you will probably have to babysit your guys and gals and swicth around between characters every five seconds to activate their abilities.

It's not a game that I would recommend to people who may feel jaded about high fantasy and stories about dwarves and elves and considering its length you may want to wait for a sale but if you like the little bearded fellows and want to experience a short tale (probably around 8 hours of gameplay) then you could do worse.

What else

If you're into the genre it's a safe bet that you will really enjoy what this game has to offer. If you're not into this genre chances are you may still like it provided you approach the game with an open mind.

Worth it

Recommend playing Tropico 4 before Tropico 5. 5 has better graphics and so but 4 has a better story. Still worth it.

Good Price for an Amazing Game

I have been waiting for this game on sale and finally got it for 25 dollars. The game play is so much better with the DLC War of the Chosen: new mechanics, new relationship among fighters. I already spent over 100 hours in my first play through and plan to do another one soon after.

Batman: The Enemy Within - The Telltale Series
 –

Better than the Previous

This game is better than the previous in every way. It's still the usual quick time events and movies, but the story is better and it is much more thrilling and engaging. The battle scenes are more simplified as you choose your actions on the go this time rather than planning ahead and then doing the quick time events. Can't wait for another installment as this is one of Telltale's better franchises.

DARK SOULS™ II: Scholar of the First Sin
 –

Excellent and Hard

This game is extremely challenging, like the other 2 installments. It's not as good as the other 2 games, but it's worth playing through regardless as it's incredibly fun and hard. There's no hand holding like in most games nowadays. Due to the difficulty, the game is very satisfying to play. Once you get used to the combat and mechanics, it gets a little easier, but it's never a walk in the park. Well worth it.

Mafia III: Digital Deluxe Edition
 –

Great, but Repetitive

This game is great, but gets repetitive fast. It keeps you coming back for more though because of how fun it is. Each set of missions is basically the same, hence the repetition. You basically visit the same locations over and over to do slightly different objectives that progress the story and side quests. The expansion packs are fun, though they don't add much to the story. One lets you rebuild the bar from the start of the game. The others also add new elements and are nice fun distractions, but they don't do much of anything to flesh out the story or characters further. Definitely worth it on sale, but GTA or Saints Row are better options.

Should be rated M

Didn't get very far before running into some offensive language. Would have appreciated knowing that ahead of time and avoided the purchase.
