Puyo Puyo™ Tetris® 2
 –

Colorful and light-hearted

Much like Puyo Puyo Tetris 1, the sequel offers a quite lengthy, light-hearted campaign with bright colors and humorous dialogue. The game is likely to appeal to both fans of Tetris and Puyo Puyo. If you're not familiar with either of the two classics, the story mode provides plenty of opportunity to get the hang of them as you'll be playing both Tetris and Puyo Puyo as you (hopefully) clear the star-rated stages. The solo and multiplayer modes allow you to pick the game of your choice, though.

The story is loosely connected to the plot of the first game, but it's not necessary to have played PPT1 before diving into PPT2. The game runs well even on lower-spec systems, looks great, and has a happy chiptune-y soundtrack. The only real downside of the game is the lack of cross-platform multiplayer, but the game isn't really aimed at the hardcore competitive crowd (Puyo Puyo Championship, Tetris Effect: Connected, Tetrio are good alternatives here).

All in all a fun game that I keep coming to for another round of highscore chasing.

Dead Cells
 –

Not easy, but very satisfying.

Dead Cells is a challenging roguelite platformer with good meta progression. The game is responsive and plays fluidly. While it isn't an easy platformer, it's an accessible one with a mostly gradual learning curve. Even players who don't excel at this type of game will quickly improve and make progress. Some difficulty spikes aside, this is a satisfying game that offers many hours of playtime. Great soundtrack, too.

Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition
 –

Fantastic Gunplay

Borderlands 2 was one of my all-time favorite games that I spent hundreds of hours on, so my expectations to the (real) sequel had been sky high. In spite of some skepticism, I dove deep into Borderlands 3 and have been loving every second of it since.

Story: Like others, I found the story to be less engaging than the Borderlands 2 plot, and the characters less well written, but I didn't feel that the story was all that bad. The side missions are partly really well done, while the main story could certainly have been better, I still found it fun to follow. The humor didn't reach BL2's levels, but was thankfully a step up from The Pre-Sequel.

Gameplay: At the end of the day, I play a Borderlands game for the loot and the shooting, not for the story, and here the game really shines. Gunplay and gun selection are much improved in Borderlands 3, and everything just feels and plays more smoothly and gives better feedback. Legendary loot drops are much more common, which some people view as a downside, but I actually like getting good loot. Perfect guns with perfect stats still require a ton of determined farming. The new classes are interesting and the 4th skill tree added by the first DLC of the second season pass (included in the Ultimate Edition) adds a whole new dimension.

Content: The Ultimate Edition comes with all of the DLC from Season Pass 1 and Season Pass 2, plus all of the content from the base game. There are hundreds of hours of fun to be had here, both solo and co-op. Anyone who loved the previous games, enjoys good shooters with a narrative, or is into loot grinding really can't go wrong with this game. Borderlands is still the best looter-shooter franchise around.
