Runs so fluid, the environments are breathtaking, amazing what an indie dev can do with the unreal engine and making a sidescroller puzzler. It really was a fun game too with a neat storyline using only action and no words.
Lot of variation in this set of puzzle games. Decently done, not super cheeesey or tossed together imho... the funny little people is a big odd but its no worse than watching youtube with little talking heads in the corners haha.
Seems underrated, you get a lot of stuff under one hood!
While it may be delivered via steam (bleah)... its actually a very soothing and fun casual city builder game with nice smooth graphics, sounds, and tools. Only wish it wasnt through steam.... thus the loss of a star!
This is a gem, don't let it slip you by! Its simplistic fun, something you can easily waste your evening at without stress or worry a little at a time. Pick up and go whenever.
It has that cathartic feel of just heading out, digging, exploring, gathering, building.
Its not bad, its not great. Its a mash of different types of games, and not all in a good way. Its just all around .... 'meh'. Mainly, just play it for the cutscenes, and be done with it. Has no replay value what so ever.
*Original 5-star review edited to now reflect what is, vs what was.
Was going great through early access .... then they hired a mental screwup to write their campaign and story content to cater to a few other mental screwups .... then shoved garbage at us and rubbed everyone elses noses in their mentally deficit crap.
If you enjoyed Frostpunk, then you will understand this games playstyle and mechanics. If you found Frostpunk to be a relentless nightmare... yeah, same thing here lol.
For something that was once a 'tactical' somewhat time consuming (and engrossing) game .... they completely missed the ball and ruined it with all this time limit and turn limit crap all over the place. Total waste of what could have been fun..... you are forced to rush every damn mission, rush in, blast blast, get hurt, wait for healing days on soldiers, lose many to battle ... or just keep reloading save point after save point whenever any action doesnt go 'perfect'... why? because if you dont, the turn limits will kick you up the nads.
Don't even bother with this #2. The prior XCOM was far better.

This first of the two was a wonderful game. I had initially begun playing it way back in early access... then put it on the shelf for years while they finished it. Then started it up fresh after release, and was blown away by how much it improved and the story they put in place.
You play as an undefined character thrown into a situation after a catastrophe. The nice thing about that approach is they didn't force some persona on top of you. You could just be you, and felt more immersed into the setting (unlike the terrible sequel's main protagonist).
This one will always be the best, and well worth the adventure to experience.
V. nice! a real treat of an addition. Although I got this in the season pass, cause I wanted all the extras as well... this dlc expansion by itself could be arguably ok to get all by itself... but if you want more things, and all the goods... the season pass would be better off. Still the alpines, such serentiy... beauty... very nice!
I got this in the season pass pack, but thought I'd drop a review here too ... this is a good set of new vehicles and things. Good to have, expands variety and does add to the game. Not so sure about getting JUST this dlc... better to just get the whole pack of stuff instead.
Worthwhile pack of things ... the new farming in the alpine mountain stuff is really visually sweet (i love mountains)! Lot of other nice things in this as well, always good to get the pack of dlcs, instead of each individual dlc.. more bang for the buck.
