Spectacular

I am not sure why the first reviewer is so critical of this game, but then again his grammar is very poor so who knows how much he can be trusted? I am also a huge fan of the Total War series of games and this is by far the best one. The amount of attention to detail is immensely satisfying for anyone who is a student of history. I am very pleased with the amount of choices available for playable factions and the detail given to each civilization. Just an incredible amount of attention to detail. Anyone who is a fan of strategy and history should enjoy this game immensely. Be warned, if you like dumb dumb first person shooter games you will probably hate it. Even small decisions in this game can have huge consequences. Do not expect it to be the same as the Napolean or Empire games, it has similar controls/interfaces but so much more detail than those games. Very happy with this game and I am hoping they make one for the Crusades in the future with this amount of detail.

Eh WORST Total War Title to date

Im a Total War Series junkie, so I had to buy this, but this is by far the worst one to date. The dynamics are bellow average. Your army must be with a general at all times which is obnoxious for garrisons, and you are limited to a number of generals and agents which makes this addition even worse. Both Generals and agents have an unusually short lifespan so by the time you rank them up, they die.

Campaign map movement is also odd, where you cant move into an enemy's line of movement even to challenge them, and therefore spend 3 turns moving what should have been one.

Probably the worst thing is the "region/province" building settings. Basically you can't fully build or qualm a region unless you own all the regions of a province, and while some of the provinces are semi historically accurate, many are absurd. More over it just makes it a pain in the ass to conquer, esspecially if an ally owns part of the province.

The battle interfaceface is also really subpar, though defending towns is brilliant and how they should have been doing it for years. The new army stance thing is pretty cool too.

They seam to have borrowed some things from Civilization V, like whole armies just walking over water.

Overall, I'm just upset with how this turned out and will probably stick to Shogun 2
