PARKS AND RECREATION

  • Use the new park area tool to create park districts wherever there is empty land, and new city services like Park Maintenance, which boosts happiness and effectiveness and helps level up parks.

BRICK BY BRICK

  • Customize your city with new buildings and assets, including a new sightseeing bus line, new service buildings, new unique buildings like amusement parks, nature reserves, city parks and zoos, and a regal new monument, the Castle of Lord Chirpwick.

  1. Fun park customisation
    by bills6693, United Kingdom - Dec 31st 2018

Small but fun addition which brings to life the city parks that were missing before. Whilst I didn't find the nature reserves, zoos or theme parks as great (although they're still fun to add for sure), the city parks add an element that seemed to be missing before - no longer does your city have just a few plazas and huddles of trees, you can now build proper parks and gardens like you would find in most cities, larger blocks of land dedicated to the outdoors in the middle of your city.

  5. Mini-game inside Cities: Skylines
    by Migol, Poland - Sep 18th 2018

Parks are kinda like minigame inside major game. They can make or break your city of course, but they are kinda like something you do between major developments. Nevertheless - fun stuff.

  6. Altro pack da non perdere
    by khadgar1, Italy - Aug 31st 2018

[In the simple game in practice the parks are there but they are simple. Here there is a considerable expansion because it allows an interesting level of customization and a depth that is mainly linked to the imagination of those who use it. The cities now with all of them pack get a remarkable depth and always more beautiful.]

  7. Cities: Skylines - Parklife review
by siSINka, Czech Republic - Jun 2nd 2018

Another "must have" addon to building strategy. Adds leisure facilities, parks, ZOOs. Your city will be a bit nicer.

  8. Sure, why not
    by Cristi P., Romania - May 29th 2018

It looks like Paradox have added a few quality-of-life improvements in this DLC (alongside new content), so I'm happy that they keep trying to improve the game. The price is fair enough that I don't have a problem justifying the purchase, though maybe I was a bit over-hyped for this piece of content from all the video playthroughs I had seen before.

I was kind of expecting them to remove the old "parks & plazas" content to force players to use the new system, but apparently it's still there. Meaning you can still plop down happiness-generating items quickly and painlessly instead of taking the time to design your custom dream park. I wonder if the new way of doing things will eventually feel to tedious, and most players will just fall back to using the old parks system.

Something else I've noticed is that the new parks take quite a while to level up, based on the # of visitors they accumulate (makes sense I guess). I was hoping to blitz through the whole DLC in an hour or two, but apparently you need to invest quite a bit of time into this side project to really make it flourish. I wouldn't call it essential DLC, but it's nice enough for the extra tools & roleplay value it gives you.
