  1. Total War Lite

Thrones of Britannia has a lot of changes compared to previous total war games. Many features, such as ambush and forced marching army stances were removed and new ones were added. This game is much more fluid than previous total war games as minor settlements no longer have any garrison and all new units raised take multiple turns to reach full strength. However, as someone who has been playing total war for a long time, I find the game too easy. The campaign map (game world) is small, (compared to previous total war games) there is little unit variety and the AI isn't much of a challenge. However, I haven't played with the latest updates, which might have fixed some of the problems I mentioned.

  2. Not a must buy

As someone who hasn't played since Shogun 2 this was a nice change. Maybe not so interesting for Attila vets though.

Is it slimmed down a bit? Sure.
Is it bad? Far from it.
