Changes everything about the way you interact with other empires. Really changes the dynamic of the game for the best IMO.

Prison Architect - Going Green

Clean energy and more stuff to do outdoors.

The title says it all. I find this DLC almost a must have, really helps getting a beautiful and energy efficient prison built. Love the new stuff.

Stellaris: Federations
 – 

Good expansion.

Federations brought more ways to handle alliances and interact with your neighbours. It also brought a plethora of convenient tools to manage your empire. Overall, while not essential, it is an important part of getting the most out of Stellaris.

Prison Architect - Island Bound
 – 

New places.

Island bound brings islands and island themed objects to the game. While not really essential if does bring new mechanics into the game. For it's price it's worth having.

Prison Architect - Psych Ward: Warden's Edition
 – 

They made it essential.

Psych ward doesn't really bring anything major but if you don't have it you can't control Crazy prisoners that will appear in the main game nonetheless. It was not a good move to make this DLC essential. Luckily it's not very expensive.

This DLC not only allows you to play with a new type of race but it also enables them to appear in the galaxy. They play different from the other species and require specific things which enriches the game by adding more mechanics. Get it if you're a Stellaris fan.
