In this game survival+basebuilding meets diablo-playstyle. you play in an isometric view and combat is, as i think, somewhat similar to diablo. so it's hack'n'slay.
base-building is, as i find it, one of the better in survival games. menue is good structured and building-logic makes it easy to understand how it works.
leveling may be somewhat other, it is very gear-focused. the equipment-level you wear determines your strength compared to the world. weapon and equipment type gives different bonus and skills to use.
for singleplayer, i think it's somewhat difficult by default...you have to do some trial and error to advance sometimes. but since the game runs, even in singleplayer, in a kind of server/client system, you can configure the world-settings on your game. so make it simpler for combat if you like, give higher stack-count in inventory etc.
and for the multiplayer people, this game can host it's own server! so welcome back lan-party :)
You look for an immersive extraction shooter, arc raiders is your pick. it has - great pvp - loot that is easy to understand how to use/sort it - loot system and drops are explained and easy to understand - excellent graphics and sound
if you favour koop-only or pve, this game is not for you.
After so many years there is finaly a great successor to the old original JA games.
for me, it captures the charm of the originals and transfers them into a great new game. the game is somewhat hard, but it's like the originals...you had to work hard to win.
about 12 hours into the game i only have one negative thing to mention: i would have liked some more clear explanations on mechannics/devices/weapons. a bit more or better text to know what it exactly does or how good it is.
other than that, i had no big issues. had a bug that caused the game to crash/hang (in stealth changing stance during pause) but that seems to already known and is on the fix list.
For me it was an excellent game experience! good story, varied events and a well balanced management-gameplay of your spaceship.
i did read much negative reviews after the release about balancing, but i think they got it right in the meantime as i had a good experience with the balancing. difficulty was demanding but balanced over all.
Game has it's high's and lows. i like the sound, the ambiente and the soundtrack. the story is good, but nothing too fancy or exciting.
the gameplay was, unfortunately for me, not so good. especialy the balancing was not good. also the loot system was not working as i very early found 2 weapons that i used nearly all the game long.
I like the aquatic style and the new mechanics it brings along. the content is ok for the base price, so if you are not to hyped about aquatic races then wait for a decent sale to get the new features.
Plantoids was a DLC with realy little stuff in it. with the recent makeover of the 3.1 Lem patch it worth it. i would compare it to the Humanoids DLC now, wich was already a good package.
Only played a few hours so far, but just like in the Beta i realy have lot's of fun playing it. it gives me the "one more turn" feeling back that i lost while playing Civ6.
if you know other Amplitude games (Endless Legend and/or Endless Space) you'll learn playing the game very fast as it has much similarities on some topics (like resources, combat, the general map design).
Still in EA but already fun to play. has lot's of building options and stuff to manage, from people over resources to scouting on the world map.
i personaly like the management of the settlement most, the world map part needs some more work to get interesting. and would be cool if more events are added till the final release.
I'd say the DLC is worth it's money, especialy in a sale.
i personaly don't like the new content, playing as Necroids, very much, but that is just reflecting my personal playstyle. as far as i can say the contend works good.
what i enjoy on the other hand is the great new shipset. realy like the style. so if you look for a cool new shipset, get the Necroids DLC in a sale!
It's a good, maybe even very good RPG. The real downside for me is the extreme amount of text you have to read. so much text! would have loved more audio dialogs.
It's a fun arcade game that picks up the gameplay of the first GTA game. nothing groundbreaking to be expected here, but for the price you get a solid arcade top-down shooter.
