Middle-earth: Shadow of War
 –

Innovative

Shadow of War plays a bit like a more fantasy Assassins Creed: You kill more chaff, but the nemesis systems balances that out with personal feuds. You also can build your own army and conquer forts. On top of that, you get a good story and a lot of endgame content. The RPG elements are well executed. If you like Action fantasy games in any kind of way, get this game.

Stellaris: Synthetic Dawn Story Pack
 –

A new perspective

This Stellaris DLC further expands the field, in which Stellaris excells: variety. The synthetics play very different from the organic races and will make your games more interesting just by being there. Being able to play them gives more roleplay possibilites but also is very refreshing gameplay wise. There also different kind of robot styles you can play (Assimilator, Exterminator, Service-Bots, etc.).

Stellaris: Apocalypse
 –

Only relevant for the endgame.

The apocalypse DLC adds unity Ambitions, titans and super weapons. Unity ambitions are an endgame way of spending unity. They are actually really useful and nice to have. Meanwhile titans make a good addition to every end game fleet. On the other hand, the super weapons are hardly ever worth using. If you do, everyone hates you, and you have to use a very limited ressource - an ascension perk slot - to even get them. Still, the super weapons are good for role playing and for many people, that is what Stellaris is all about. So get the DLC if you like to have the possibility to live out the ultimate power fantasy or if you feel that the endgame of stellaris lacks content.

Hearts of Iron IV
 –

One of the simpler Paradox Titles

Hearts of Iron 4 is a grand strategy world war 2 game. In terms of complexity, it is simpler than other paradox titles, but more in depth than most games. The most complex part - the division designer - can be ignored when playing on lower difficulties. HoI 4 is way more accessable than HoI 3. It is very focused on warfare. Beyond that, you have the ability to play unhistorical games, which is refreshing. If that is not enough, there are overhaul mods for it, from mods that just make it more complex to alternate history mods or even fantasy and sci-fi mods like the excellent Fallout mod "Old world blues" or the War of the worlds mod.

Assassin's Creed Origins
 –

Evolution of Assassins Creed

AC: Origins marks the next step in the Evolution of the Assassins Creed franchise. While the first games were all about adventure and the core story, later games more and more focused on the action fighting and gearing up. With Origins, the franchise has taken some new directions, while still focusing on the action and RPG elements. The world is bigger, if you want you can educate yourself about ancient egypt in the new education mode. The game has some fantasy elements. A big up is the changed fighting system: It personally reminds me a bit more of dark souls than the previous systems did. Sadly, even hard difficulty can not live up to the challenge dark souls could provide, but that is less a question of negative or positive and more a question of personal taste.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2
 –

Excellent Hack and Slash

Vermintide is a Co-op action game that can be played solo. You embark on missions with friends or bots and work your way trough the environment. On the way, you get attack by waves of enemies that you dispatch in multiple satisfying ways like slashing them, bludgeoning them or burning them. The time and place of the attacks are chosen by an enemy ai, that determins when the team is vulnerable. Along with the chaff enemies, you get attacked by elite enemies with special abilities. After the mission, you get loot for your characters and exp for levelling them up. You get more loot if you find hidden items while in the mission. The game can be played on high difficulties for tactical challenge or on lower difficulties for mindless hacking and slashing. Technically speaking, it could be better optimized. Also, the loot RNG - while not unfair - can be a turn off for some people. All in all nice progression and meaty core gameplay.
