Stellaris: Utopia
 –

Another excellent expansion*****

If you're thinking which DLCs to get - and there are many - I suggest you put this one on the shortlist. It adds a lot of nice features to build your empire, and overhauls a lot of the planetary mechanics. Mega-structures are pretty hard to achieve though, be warned!

Stellaris: Distant Stars Story Pack
 –

Once you open Pandora's L-gate...*****

Three words: brutal boss fights. I warned you... :)

Ooof, this is one of those expansions that is heavier on the challenge side than the reward. Especially since you can sick some of these beasties on the unsuspecting galaxy way before you're ready to fight them. Be careful! Par for the course are also some great bits of lore to really flesh out the world. Just remember, start building those attack ships. A lot of attack ships... ;)

Endless Space® 2
 –

Looks fantastic, with engaging mechanics*****

The strong points of this game are the looks, and the mechanics. Everything is polished and well thought out on the UI, and the menu navigation is genius! Lets you focus on the gameplay decisions instead of getting a headache by trapping you in the tenth subscreen you visited just to see your resources. The turns based mechanics and limited moves really makes you think about strategic decisions, and makes it all the sweeter when you succeed!

Helicopter Simulator 2014: Search and Rescue
 –

Basic graphics and repetition*****

Nostalgia for a similar game from my past led me to buy this one on sale. The graphics are a little dated, and the missions are made with a cookie cutter, not to mention the controls are less than ideal. Still, it's good for killing some time with light gaming.

Stellaris: Ancient Relics Story Pack
 –

Makes the universe all the more colorful*****

This one is a great little expansion to the Stellaris universe. The archeological digs are fun, if a little tedious, but they yield engaging bits of storytelling, and possibly some cool artifacts you can use to your advantage.

Cities: Skylines - Mass Transit
 –

Much needed transport options you could only get in mods before*****

It feels like the developers took a look at what the community was doing for themselves, and then lifted a bunch of ideas directly into the game. This is not necessarily a bad thing, support for these features is probably better this way.

Anyway, you get much needed options and controls to influence the transport network of your city. The ability to fine tune is always welcome, and the public transportation side gets a lot of new options. You get all kinds of road options as well, but the car AI is still not the best. Clever road and intersection planning is a must, since putting down some avenues is useless if the AI can't use all the lanes properly.

Cities: Skylines - Industries
 –

Bordering on micromanagement*****

I have mixed feelings on the contents of this DLC. On one hand, it adds a whole lot of customization options to industrial zones, but at the same time, growing the districts becomes a manual task instead of just zoning out an area. You have to balance production levels lest your factories run dry of materials, and the UI is a bit cumbersome for that. On the other side, the new zones are a great source of revenue, and it adds a lot of tools to visually and thematically customize your city, if you're into that sort of role playing.

Stories: The Path of Destinies
 –

Great storytelling, fun atmosphere*****

This game excels in storytelling. While a single run through of the events is short, the groundhog day like mechanics more than makes up for it. The characters have depth, the dialog is sharp and witty, I was entertained all the way through. Combat is not too involved and a bit repetitive, but that's less of the focus of this game. Overall I had a blast!

XCOM 2: War of the Chosen
 –

If you thought the aliens couldn't get any more powerful...*****

They do. They really do. Get ready for a ride Commander!

If you love the core game, this expansion bring more of the same, good stuff to the table. It adds more classes for both sides, unique boss fights, more game mechanics to develop your rebel base, and great replay value if you had the base story in bag already. It's fun, and it's challenging, it's pure XCOM. I recommend you get the other DLCs too, cause those mechs sure come in handy for this one... :P

Beware, this expansion requires more horsepower from your machine than the base game.

Airport Madness 3D: Volume 2
 –

Great fun and a challenge at the same time*****

The concept of the game is pretty simple, but the different levels of traffic, and the eight airports you can pick from allow you to choose your experience. You can have some fun with a small airport, or clutch at your head as plane after plane crashes during rush hour on your six runways... Graphics are decent, but not the main attraction, which is okay for this game. My only gripe is that the UI to control the planes is a little bit clunky and slow with the mouse, so it pays to memorize the keyboard shortcuts.
