The original game is already a monument in its vanilla version. This upgrade adds very nice QoL features on top. Not enough to justify only by itself a new playthrough, but it contributes in a pleasant way to the enjoyment of the game this many years after the original release,
With this title The Chinese Room proved once again that they are masters of tense linear atmospheric games. The graphics and sound effects are impressive and contribute greatly to the ambiance. If you came out of Vampire the Masquarade Bloodlines 2, their latest release, with a bad impression, be reassured there are no RPG elements here, but only a strong atmosphere, which is exactly where they shine for the best.
Even this many years after its original release on Gamecube, those 2 titles still hold up with very nice hand drawned backgrounds, and above all, with a fascinating world to discover or rediscover. Baten Kaitos II, the prequel, was never officialy released in Europe at the time, and it is nice to know that everyone has now an easy access on our modern computers to this very nice experience.
Star Trek Voyager - Across the Unnknown is an interesting take on adapting a well-loved old SF serie into a relaxed video-game. The story is very faithfull to the original serie, although you can make some radicaly different choices with your characters. The game is turn-based, has some survivial components through resource management, but beware, is very RNG heavy. Overall a very decent experience.
Overall a nice visual novel, espacialy accessible to players who are not familiar with the "World of Darkness" lore or specificaly to its warewolf aspects. The rules of the tabletop RPG are relatively well rendered within the limits of a PC Game visual novel. It will never be as interesting as a live session among friends but I can see how it would make a nice introduction to the universe...
Nova-box is one of the best studios all around when it comes to narrative interactive novels. Along the Edge offers a thrilling story of a young woman who tries to reconnect with her roots ; it is sufficiently well written to enjoy both a totally rationally engaged character playthrough and one leaning to more esoteric temptations. The pleasure seats deep in the impression to read a "Choose your own adventure" book that would have a long time memory.in the overall choices you make. Quite worth trying if you are into that.
Overall a very decent VR experience ; of course if you've already played Wolfenstein Youngblood, do not expect to be surprised by the levels, but it is a good spin-off and a nice way to revisit the universe in VR. The 3 different robots you control offer some enjoyable variety. The game is however relatively short.
Solasta offers an interesting take on translating tabletop RPG combat mechanics into computers. The heights in particular are well taken into account. The production value is certainly shorter than the one of BG3, but there is nothing to be ashamed of. One could even argue that the game is impressive if you consider the size of the dev team. Overall a very pleasant experience if you are into tactical medfan rpgs.
That dlc will mainly interest players focused on the european continent. There is quite an interesting revamp of the papal mechanism, as well as a few update on how the HRE works. The endgame is also improved with the new "hegemon" mechanic and a fun way of dealing with the spreading of revolutions. Overall an interesting add-on, yet it is a little bit of a shame that the new sprites are not included, and yet again only available to the customers that buy the dedicated cosmetic "content pack" dlc.
One of the very best cosmetic update available if you are playing in the european theatre. The main "Empire" dlc is also very interesting ; it is quite a pity that both these 2 dlcs are not packed together.
