Stellaris 2.0

First thing to say about Apocalypse is that it's an optional expansion. The most important changes and improvements that Stellaris has received are for free (included in 2.0 patch). This expansion improves mid and late game, allowing you the use of massive destruction weapons (hello, Death Star) and an ultimate class of spaceships (Titans). And it adds a new actor to the game (Marauders) that plays like Hordes you can interact with (bribing them to avoid their razings, or directing them against your rivals). So... it doesn't really add to much.

Some good additions supporting a great free update

This DLC adds a few small but flavoursome additions to the game that are really there to complement the 2.0 Update which overhauled the way that travel, wars and territory (among other sweeping changes) work in the game. Although this DLC is definitely one of the less 'essential' pieces for this game, it is a nice addition and supports the continued development of the game which is worth it in itself, I believe.

Great environments but not many puzzles

I'm one who prefers more puzzles than hidden object finds, and this game favored the hidden object above puzzles, and what few puzzles they had weren't very challenging. That said, the scenes were great and it was entertaining to play nonetheless.

Good Paradox Fun!

Having skipped this one for a long time I finally picked it up on a great price here and I am truly enjoying the game - as I do with almost every Paradox game. I really enjoy the focus tree setup and all that I am missing with the focus trees in the base game are more ahistorical paths - which Paradox has improved upon with the DLC trees. But it's still what makes me drop the score to 4/5 instead of 5/5.

And there is also a great modding community for the game with lots and lots of great mods out there. Both that expand upon the WW2 setting adding (or refreshing exisiting ones) focus trees for countries not having a unique one in the game or that set the game in different settings and time periods giving the game even more replayability!

Old game, new expansion

I love when companies make new content for older games. Makes a good game even better.
