I resisted this one for a long time because the community response was so lukewarm. I'm sorry I did! I love the Civ feel translated into thinking more about what's possible in the future. The meta-narrative aspect was not as strong as e.g. Alpha Centauri, but still good stuff.
With Hearts of Iron 4 Paradox really tries to update this classic game and mostly succeeds. Some of the changes are a bit controversial for some players while the game (like all paradox games) will keep evolving with the DLC's however it seems like this will be a far better effort than the mediocre Hearts of Iron 3. Of course some of the usual problems persist like A.I naval invasions which are as usual problematic and although theoretically you can play as any country in the world the fact that only a dozen countries have their own national focus trees(as of now at least) makes playing the other ones a bland and generic experiance.
Purchased this game today. Downloaded it. Went to play it and all that opened was a vibrating pink screen which can only be removed by shutting down your computer. Any advice on how I might fix this situation would be greatly appreciated. (I'm old, and relatively new to Mac games).
While the first Warhammer was good, this one improves many things and boasts more diverse factions. But the mains elling point is the campaign: having clear objectives make the game far more tense and improves immersion. The four main factions are really unique and interesting, with strong differences both in campaign and in battle. This game sets a new standard for TW games.
The best of the TW games since Medieval II (and excluding Warhammer II). Despite mixing modern firearms and swords, it is very balanced. Fighting with one type of weapon against somebody using a totally different one is very interesting.
The campaign is focused, relatively fast, and evry interesting, both strategically and for the cutural setting.
Its a solid evolution to the game while I wish there were more chosen I understand why not and they are a delight to play against shame they have to die
A casual-friendly submarine game with interesting FTL influences
Approachable gameplay that doesn't make you fuss around with too much submarine stuff. The ability to go to a 2D internal view and assign crew stations is a novel touch. The forthcoming 1.2 update looks to significantly improve upon the game, as well.
